APRA Maioha Award
The APRA Maioha Award is for the best creative work incorporating the Maori language. It aims to recognise excellance in contemporary Maori music and acknowledge Waiata in Re Reo Maori. It was first presented in 2003 and is jointly administered by APRA and The Maori Industry Coalition (MMIC).

APRA Silver Scroll Awards
This is an annual award for best popular song. All writers (composers and authors) must be resident in New Zealand or New Zealand citizens. All writers must also be elected members of APRA. It must not be an arrangement or adaptation of a traditional non-copyright work or any other original work. The song must have been first made available on a recording for retail sale in New Zealand and broadcast in New Zealand during the months leading up to the award presentation. http://www.apra.co.nz

BNet NZ Music Awards
The bNet NZ Music Awards are staged annually by the bNet radio network, which comprises of student radio stations up and down the country. Awards are given across 14 different categories, and voting is undertaken online. www.95bfm.co.nz

Creative NZ - Butland Music Scholarship

This scholarship aims to support outstanding New Zealand composers. Composers at any stage of their career may apply. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens (resident in New Zealand or overseas) and meet Creative New Zealand's general eligibility criteria.

Kodak Music Clip Awards
The Kodak Music Clip Awards is an annual awards ceremony which celebrates the craft of music clip making. Every entry is judged by renowned industry professionals for all categories: Best Video, Runner Up, DOP, Editor, Best Animation & The Knack Award. All finalists will be played on the night on a large screen followed by the Awards Ceremony. After this entries will be played on request. All Directors, Editors and DOPs will be door listed for the event and are encouraged to join us in celebrating the craft that is Music Clip Making. NZ on Air - New Recording Artists
Funding support to help new bands and new artists with the costs of recording a song for radio. Aims to find new artists and new songs that will work on commercial radio. To help new artists to build a commercial radio track record. Funding of $5,000 per project. Funding for recording costs only, not manufacture or equipment costs. NZ on Air - Albums
Funding for record companies towards the costs of recording and releasing an album by a New Zealand band or artist with proven commercial radio airplay credentials. Aims to fund albums that will provide a source of new radio hits and by supplementing the record company's budget, to help make a better record - better production values - and/or better market the record. Funding of up to $50,000 per project to match at least $50,000 from the record company. NZ on Air - Music Videos
Funding for record companies to help with the costs of producing a music video. To fund music videos that will play on music television shows and music television channels and help us get songs played on the radio. NZ on Air - HIT Discs
This is where you can put forward a song to be included on one of NZ On Air's hit disc New Zealand music compilations. NZ On Air produces five series of New Zealand music hit discs for radio - Kiwi Hit Disc ("commercial music"); Kiwi Gold Disc (classic hits); the [heatseekers] Indie Hit Disc ("alternative music"); Iwi Hit Disc (Maori language and kaupapa music); and A/C Hit Disc (adult contemporary repertoire). The discs are sent to every radio station in the country. NZ on Air - Radio Hits
Funding to record companies to recover the costs of recording and releasing songs that pick up significant airplay on commercial radio. To provide an incentive to record companies to get significant commercial radio airplay and reward those that do. Funding of up to $5,000 per project. The top 5 most-played New Zealand songs each quarter will qualify. New Zealand Music Awards (Tui Awards)
These awards are for outstanding artistic and technical achievements in the recording arts and celebrate the diversity of local talent and showcase local musicians in all musical areas. The awards are presented by RIANZ (Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). Recordings must have been released in New Zealand between 1 January and 31 December of the official qualifying year. Patricia Pratt Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for musicians for advanced study overseas for up to 2 years. Applicants will be New Zealand citizens who have resided in New Zealand for at least three years immediately preceding the year of selection. SOUNZ Contemporary Award
The SOUNZ (The Centre for New Zealand Music) Contemporary Award is for the best creative work in the contemporary classical music sector. Works can be solo, choral, chamber, orchestral, electron-acoustic or any combination of these and will be judged on compositional excellence and inspiration.This annual music award is for a work by a composer that in the opinion of the jury displays excellence and innovation. It must have been premiered in the previous year. It is open to composers who are members of APRA. SOUDZ appoints the jury and manages the award. World Battle of the Bands Competition
The World Battle of the Bands is a global music competition that aims to bring the best up and coming bands in the world into the international arena. The aim is to seek out the most astounding new live music the world has to offer. The competition is currently taking place in eight countries around the world, and more are being added every year. World Battle of the Bands is a dynamic, growing band contest that has successfully grown around Asia Pacific. Focusing exclusively on unsigned bands, all acts must write and perform their own material. Each of the competing countries, throughout various venues, will host heats, semi-finals and regional finals to determine the competitors for each National Final.
