Spark: international festival of media, arts and design
Spark is a unique international festival of media arts and design that provides a forum for those in the creative industries to meet and listen to cutting-edge national and international artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers and media personalities. It inspires creative energy at Wintec and ensures a constant flow of fresh and innovative ideas.

They came, they saw, they sparked!

The Spark festival held in Hamilton from the 4th-8th August 2008 was an amazing success with record numbers this year. Wintec's Spark, festival of Media, Art and Design, left a buzz of inspiration in its wake this year with 35% more people attending than in 2007 with over 2400 checking out the presentations, events and workshops. The new venue of Wintec's Gallagher Hub was deemed a great success and is provisionally booked for Spark '09.

Spark’s tenth anniversary year included a dynamic and varied festival programme  including the surprise visit from international artist Rirkrit Tiravianja and inspiring presentations such as that from design studio Inkahoots; the inaugural  Hamilton Pecha Kucha  night, and the screening of the International Palestinian Film Festival.

After receiving numerous comments on the 'wonderfully stimulating' week and requests for next year's dates the head of Media Arts at Wintec Margi Moore says: "Pencil in the 3rd to the 7th of August 2009 now!"
