Ramp Gallery was established in 1997 as a project space for contemporary artists at the School of Media Arts, Wintec (then Waikato Polytechnic). The gallery has maintained a commitment to contemporary New Zealand art throughout its history. Ramp Gallery has presented exhibitions by many of New Zealand's leading contemporary artists, including
Julian Dashper,
Daniel Malone,
Jim Allen,
David Clegg,
Fiona Amundsen,
Ronnie Van Hout,
Violet Faigan and
Ann Shelton.
Ramp Gallery's programme showcases contemporary practices from a broad range of media. The gallery fosters critical discussion about contemporary art and provides a venue for innovative work. Ramp Gallery is currently expanding its operations to include artist residencies, artist talks, exhibition publications, web-based projects whilst developing new relationships and partnership projects with other contemporary art spaces.
